10 Books That’ll Have You Sleeping With The Lights On
Did you know that every month that starts on a Sunday has a Friday the 13th? Yeah, me neither. It turns out that April’s 13th day was this most recent Friday and I found myself doing something I NEVER do- I went to a scary movie. I’m a cream puff when it comes to all-things scary but this remake of Cabin in the Woods had caught so much critical attention that my husband was just pining to go. I’m no horror film aficionado, but I will say there is something special about this one. And to be completely honest, I didn’t leave horrified either. There are some truly funny moments in the film, and a clever twist that nobody will see coming. The critics are calling this one a game changer, and even though I’m not really sure if it is or isn’t, it got me thinking that game changers are fun. In spirit of this horror flick that not only earned 3rd place at the box office its’ opening weekend, it’s also rocking the face off all its viewers. So we decided to look at 10 of the best YA scary books out there. I’ve honestly never read a scary book before, but now I think I just might (if only to say I have). In order to compile this list, I did some investigating on several sites and used the ones that kept reoccurring and had the best reviews. These books are sure to pull you in, keep the pages turning and have you sleeping with the lights on. [And just as I side note, I would definitely recommend Cabin in the Woods- If I say it’s really not that scary, it’s really not that scary. But it’s worth seeing just because it’s so original and clever. At the same time the idea was so great that I found myself saying… “Umm why has this never been done before!?!” I really can’t say more without letting out spoilers, but unlike any other scary movie I’ve ever seen, I’ve actually found myself blabbing about this one every day since I watched it.]
Lets us know the scariest books that you’ve read- we need to add some to our bookshelf =) Keep in mind we’re both babies when it comes to this stuff and it doesn’t take much to scare us =)

AWESOME LIST! I am writing the ones I don’t have down to get. I so love Scary books cause really they are never that scary, they just get your blood pumping. Thanks for the great list!
I read Anna Dressed in Blood and LOVED it, I mean extremely loved it. Also, J. Gabriel Gates - Sleepwalkers is another AWESOME book!

Thanks! I’ll have to check those 2 out! I honestly am unfamiliar with most of these authors but I’ve heard great things about Christopher Pike. Both the Forrest of Hand and Teeth and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children have movie deals- which I always find it to be a treat to watch something I’ve read (and they’ve got Tim Burton directing the latter which has me quite curios!). Thanks for reading and taking the time to post! We really appreciate it!
Most of our friends on ‘Goodreads’ raved about “Anna dressed in blood”. Can’t wait to read that someday. TIff, we should make it our goal to read at least one of those books? lol
Great List! It can be hard to find good books in that genre.
